Chicken Scratch

This is a chicken scratch flower basket Joann is making.
Crafters from Cane Creek joined the Tuckasegee Kounty Krafters in April to learn the ancient art of chicken scratch. It is done using gingham fabric as the grid, and sewing a variety of stitches to complete the project. It is fun and easy to do. There are some patterns available on the internet. (See about.com).All you need is an embroidery hoop, embroidery thread, a sharp needle, some scissors and a pattern. The ECA provided us with kits to make a red and white heart. Chicken Scratch Embroidery is known by many other names including Amish Embroidery, Snowflake Embroidery, Depression Lace or Gingham Lace.
